Following, are my plans for the Immediate future.
1. Bulk of troops now operating in Shamiya area Jill be
assembled a E ain at HiXlah about the 1st December. From here

' operate In the areas Bachdad, Fallujah, Musalyib.. Plum-gasirlya.
2. on December 1st a column of 6th Division will commence to
move towards Rumaitha and operate from Rumaitha in the surrounding-
areas•
3. 75th Brigade column will move to Samarra by leit bank of
Tigris when the terms imposed on tribes in the Diyala area
have been complied with. It will deal with insurgent tribes en
route and return to Baghdad by the right bank.
Second an d last part.
4. I have consulted the High Commissioner and after above
operations have been concluded propose to arrange marching troops
through the Gharraf ?area. The troops utilized for this will be
chiefly units which are to jfeavo Mesopotamia and they will be moving
towards tase. This operation may not bo concluded before end of
January and by this time all arms which I ?am likely to be able to
extract will have come in. It may then be possible to start the
return of units to India.
5 . I propose that 1st Rifle Brigade shall be returned to India
in January.
