Brigade column returned Samawa Janiiari r 5th taking sheep and
cattle collected. Humber of guns and machine gun
parts handed in by representatives of people of Humaitha, 2
Lewis machine guns handed in by Khaiyunalobaid of Shattru.
Middle luphrat^s. 3 columns from Kifl continue to
visit area 8 miles north west of Kifl and right bank column
moved up stream via Khubbaza. Column (?)rctumed to K»fl on
completion of visit to area. (Group undoc,) regular column
carried out drive of Jaliaha country, which tribe had not
complied with terms agreed to, and cojlooted 1,000 head of
(?) cattle. Girders of Jerb(?) (ui)ah bridge now in place and
swing girders have been constructed to allow passage of boats.
2nd and last part. Hailway has been repaired from south as far
as Diwaniya and from north to 3 miles south of Jcrb.,cah.
On January 11th small column from Diwaniya. reached
Khanjadwal. Drive along both banks Shatt Al Daghara was
carried out January 13th and 1,650 sheep and 380 cattle collected
Rifles continue to be surrendered in various areas.

A note on British Foreign Policy (folio 154) observes that the 'Policy of the British Government does not permit assistance being given to Wrangel [Petr Nikolaevich Wrangel, Baron]', a founder of the White Russian movement in the Russian Civil War.
The file includes a map (folio 174): 'Map of Eastern Turkey in Asia, Syria and Western Persia'.
