Reference Maud.e’s telegram No. X.3750 dated 21st
September and my telegram No. 41847 dated 24th September,
it is necessary (a) to ensure the completion as early as
possible of the divisions offered by you in your 30421, dated
9th May, and (b) to consider what additional troops from
India can be ready to reinforce Maude early in 1918. ‘
2. Towards (a) of paragraph 1, I understand from your
telegram No. 54031, dated 9th August, you will be able to
supply the following: 10 Indian battalions 1 Divisional Signal
Company, 3 Field Companies Sappers and Miners, 3 Machine Gun
Companies, 3 Combined Field Ambulances, Sanitary Section,
Mobile Veterinary Section • -n

with Ford vans ae asked for in your 3042T will if you require
them be provided from Home, and assistance will also be given
if necessary towards provision of divisional headquarters.
I can provide the Division with good artillery from a Division
at home and 4 Machine Gun Companies from France.

complete the division might be found from those on Tigris Lines
of Communication or Euphrates.
3. As regards (b) of paragraph 1, I understand that
after completion of another division on above lines you will
have in hand 6 battalions, 3 Field Companies, 1 Divisional
Signal Company. When could these be sent to Mesopotamia if
required for duty on Lines of Communication.
