n \° We T T as ^ n » ^ or ^ ie reprieve solicited, I was not acting contrary
to Belooch or Brahooe laws regarding homicide in blood feuds; I endeavoured
to relieve Captain Sandeman s anxiety by the course adopted, and though not
successful, as the appeal could not lie under the circumstances, yet Captain
Sandeman will now feel that as much as possible was done to relieve his feelings
ot anxiety and responsibility.

at Khelat.
I HAVE the honor herewith to forward a letter to the address of His High-
ness the Khan to be forwarded af^er perusal.
The cause of that letter
Sandeman :
is the following telegram from Captain
“ I shall feel greatly obliged if you will obtain the release of Wuzzeer and
Shere Khan. The Khan surely ought not to detain them, as they were coming
to me. I telegraph, as I am anxious.’ ,
v
I have already stated that I am far'from approving of Captain Sandeman’s
having written to the
Sirdars
Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division.
, and his having done so has led to the apprehen
sion of these men, Wuzzeer Khan and Shere Khan, who would never have left
their place of refuge but to be bearers of Captain Sandeman’s letter.. I .there
fore quite enter into Captain Sandeman’s feelings of responsibility in the
matter, and therefore if His Highness can under these circumstances let the
men go free to their former retreat, which . they left on Captain Sandeman’s
account, he will be relieved from his anxiety about them, and they will still be
responsible to His Highness and the laws of their country for their offences, as
they originally were, belore going on Captain Sandeman s service.
