You are requested to forward a statement of your views as early as possible
on the revised proposals submitted by the Officer Commanding, Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , in
his memorandum to the Chief of the General Staff, Army Headquarters, Simla,
No. A.-20-G.S.-5-485, dated the 19th April. In doing so you will no doubt bear
in mind the urgent need for economy in all branches of expenditure and will propose
reduction wherever this seems to you possible. For example it is suggested that
the strength of the detachment at Bandar Abbas might be reduced by abandoning
Naiband and concentrating at the Consulate at Bandar Abbas a sufficient force for
its protection.
