A general letter from the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. to the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company, signed by Robert Cowan, Thomas Rammell, Francis Dickinson and Francis Everest. Dated 27 July 1726.
The letter discusses matters including: the price of coffee at Beetlefuckee [Bayt al Faqīh], and the purchase of coffee and aloes soccatrina [aloe succotrina] by the factors; the sale and attempted sale of goods in Mocha by the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. ; debts owed to the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. by local merchants; the death of Matthew Martin, third Supercargo of the ship Princess Amelia , and of John Gerrard, Second of the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. ; the accounts of the Mocha Factory An East India Company trading post. ; and the attempted imposition of a 'Moor's Duty' tax by the Imaum [Imam] which the factors intended to resist.
