We have received your letter which was sent by our
Wazir
Minister.
,Sheikh Parid bin Awadth, and have noted its con
tents, You mention, oh friend, that the Zaidis had been
defeated by Ah-ad-Dahir. At that time a small party
had only arrived. It had come on an spying expedition.
There wae not a strong force. It appears now from their
letter as well as it is rumoured by people coming from
the North that a strong force is expected to come. We
are afraid that if they are not resisted by a strong
force and war material they would over run the country.
These people are rebellously and aggressively disposed
against the limits of the Arabs, In Jacob’s letter it
is stated that we have ample quantity of arms and ammu
nition but we had only a small quantity which we have
already and completely disbursed amongst our soldiers
and brothers. The area of the tract is extensive. You
are a capable Government, We do not want the Arabs to
come to know that we do not expect £221 to gxxKxos re
ceive any other help from you. We do not expect you to
gius excuses while you are capaole. We send
this letter by a messenger to overtake our son Alawi
at Mokalia or Aden. We don’t tnink that land jouxney
is tfafe for our messengers. We fear that the Turks
mignt waylay our men and intercept our confidential
letters .We request you to send us our requirements ty
