We send you this letter from Nisab the country of
the Aulakis where the news is good. We inform you that we have
received letters from the Zaidis requesting us to go to them
and enter into alliance with them and that failing to do so
they would march against us,They are very pov/erful and have a
large force,guns and ammunition.They also say that they would
march against Hadramout.Unexpectedly our Sheikh and leader
Sheikh Atiq bin Aimed came to us and acquainted us with the
treachery and wrongfulnes of the Zaidis.As xx a result we en
tered into solemn conventions with him to follow him.On making
up his mind to go to you he received letters from his country
people asking him to go back to his country and accordingly he
did for the purpose of defending his country and ours from the
excursions of those iniquitous and unjust forces.he will no
this because he is an influential and important man.iie uas
warned us to hold ourselves in readiness to encounter the
Zaidis.We are in preparations and hope to be successful.
Y/e also inform you that Sheikh Atik is saddled with
debts and experts your assistance .He deserves such assistance
because he is second to none in the North.A man of your stand
ard requires no initiation.May you be preserved.
