Pitas* sat my last vaek's letter. The Audhali
Sultan has now written to say that the ammunition was
detained at the Beda Sultan* s own request whs asked him
not to send it up as there was trouble brewing in Beda
owing to the conduct of his Humekanl tribesmen.
The Sedan! tribesmen as a whole are very unruly and
would go over to the one who gave the largest largesee.
2. The Audhali again asks for guns and small ara
ammunition and his
Wazir
Minister.
,Saiyld Aidrus, has come in te
further this request.
S. The Padll Sultan has written reiterating the
faet of his loyalty to the Britieh Government. He ex*
plaine that if he had hat gone to Lahej f hie tribesmen
would have done ee; that these foroed his hands; and
that by his going his country was spared an invasion.
The Sul tea quires about hie stipendf and asks that
trade may be re~established between Aden and Shukra.
He further asks permission te go to the Saint I bn *Alwan
who llvws at Yafrus near Tals (Turkish Yemen) for hie
eyes are din and he believes the Saint can effeot a cure.
I have sent him an appropriate reply. He has been
told 9 inter alia t to keep hie tribesmen in check and
stay their Turkish proclivities;; that after the war we
shall be able to adjudicate on his entire case;; that it
is realised here that he was in a bad way when he went te
Lahej t but that journey was quits unnecessary and ill~
advised.
