In arriving, at the approximate cost it has Deen
assumed that the rate for freight to Aden for Cable, tantcs and
v/ater would be about £6 per ton.

for whicn no charge would be made oh the condition that they
were returned in good order and that they were overhauled on

return to England and covered with the usual two coats of paint.
iiiti. regard to the question of recurring charges it
is difficult tor us to name any reliable figure, cut if you refer
to tne repair of the cable in the event of 'a fault or break
occurring our Red Sea Ship could repair on the most favourable
terms.
It would of course be necessary for the CJ.O.C. to
provide a Staff with quarters &c at ...akalla of say one man who
had some electrical knowledge and two operators who could work
MOrse on the direct siting recorder, and if desired we could
wore the Aden end m our Office, charging only the actual cost
of the salaries and allowances of the Staff required for this
