Medina, with £ 2000 for the Turk* in the Yemen. The
I dr i si has also reported a rumour that a large eua
of money has keen sent from Hejd ria Mejran for the use
of the Turks in Asir and the Yemen. I hare wired this
to His Britannic Majesty's High Commissioner, Cairo. It
is possible that they are both referring to the same
sum.
The Sherif of Behan writes that the Zaidis
wrote to the Kadi of Behan to go and see them but the
latter declined to do so. He says that the Turks hare
offered a reward to anyone who will kill or hand orer
the Kadi to them and that they (the Turks) put up a
Saiyid to kill the Kadi, but that when he (the Sherif)
came zo know of the plot, he at once expelled the Saiyid.
The Sherif expresses satisfaction at the occupation
of Bagdad by the British.
B. News gleaned from a messenger sent down by the
Sultan of Mokalla shows that the Sultan is little or no
nearer a settlement with the Kathiri. His Wasir reports
they will be perhaps more amenable as they hare recaired
a setter from Ali Saeed Pasha An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. saying that he cannot sup
port them with men and arme. The Sultan hat again asked
us to endeavour to get the proeeeds of certain Kathiri
property in Singapore held up until the Kathlris come to
their senses. This is under o on si derat ion.
9* The same messenger reports that the Upper and
Lower Aulaki Sheikhs and the Aulakl of Bir Id are at pre
sent in Mokalla for the purpose of entering into agree
ments with the Kaiti Sultan to assist each other against
the Turks.
