Abu Harb and Kayid bin Rageh with their followers
ab'Out 1200 are on Jebel Baadan while Yahya bin Yahya
Al Shayefwith about 1800 men is on Jebel Has and is sending
his men to fight on the side of Syed Mahomed Hasan on Jebel
Meerah. It is not known how many of Syid M. Hasan’s Shafi
followers have joined him. The people of Jebel Ras, Meerab,
Habashi are his followers and he has some influence over the
other tribes, even over the Zaraneeks. His father was a well
known saint amongst the people of Yemen and his order or
"Tareeke" exists in every place in Yemen even in Aden. It
is doubtful however if all his followers will join him,
About ten days ago a meeting of his (Religious) followers
took place at the Mosque of Taiz and they decided to break
off relations with him as he had joined the Zaidis against
the Government of the country.
Elias Bey with the people of Ibb, Udain Qhu Safal
Baadan and about 300 to 400 ’’Millah" Arab troops are opposing
Abu Harb and Kayid bin Rageh, while Husein Effendi who was
afcLahej and left Lahej on 17th Shawal (about 25 days ago)
with 150 Turks and 7 guns (including 2 machine guns) v/ith
the followers of Shaiks Mahomed Nasir (including the contin
gents sent by the Ameer of Dhalla., Kotaibis and Shears and
others) and the followers of Ibn Ahmed Noman and of Syid
Ahmed

between the Turks and the Zaidis. The latter are holding
some strong positions on the abovementioned mountains and
the Turks are trying to drive them and occupy these position
The Zaidis are armed with "Fransawi” (French) rifles as
they are called in Yemen and are not supported by artillery.
