order to counteract the defamatory statement she made in her circulars which
she distributed in the beginning of the war and shortly after Sharif Husain had
resorted to her. The defamatory statement was to the effect that the English
Government would not do any harm to the people of Hedjaz, that no hindrance
would be caused to pilgrims and that all the holy lands would in no way be subject
to the attacks of the British armies either by land or by sea. Sharif Husain was
misled by her words and thought that she was that Government which cared to
do good and admired the Islam but she has now damaged the harbour of Jedda and
hindered the pilgrims. All that she had said is now just as ink on paper. This
is one of the samples of her knavish acts. When her intentions were frustrated
she changed her statement. During this week the enemy twice raided a Police
Station known by the name of Bir Gaber which is near Imad and a dependencv of
Shaikh Othman. In that place there were 150 Turks and Somalies. The enemv
came out with his armies, armament/and heavy guns with the object of seizing

of God we shall continue to win to the end. The Suez Canal is shortly falling.
