21. Egypt relying on the undertakings of
Great Britain as defined in clauses 2 and 3
hereof and desiring to demonstrate her pacific
intentions to her neighbours undertakes within
5 years of the coming into force of this Treaty
to abolish compulsory military service.m
22. The High Contracting Parties reaffirm
their adherence to the Botttros-Cromer Convention
and the Convention supplementary thereto of
1899 in regard to the Sudan.
23. Great Britain undertakes to secure fo:*
Egypt her fair share of the waters of the Nile
and to this end the High Contracting Parties agrue
that no irrigation works on the Nile or its
tributaries south of Wadi A seasonal or intermittent watercourse, or the valley in which it flows. Haifa shall be under-
taken without the concurrence of a Board of tfee
Conservators representing Egypt, the Sudan,and
Uganda respectively.
24. The peaceful development^ of the Sudan
being essential for the security of Egypt and
for the maintenance of her water supply, Egypt
undertakes to continue to afford the Sudan Govern
ment the same military assistance as in the past
or in lieu thereof to provide the Sudan Government
with financial assistance to an extent to be
agreed upon between the two Governments.
25. On the coming into force of this Treat
Great Britain undertakes to communicate its terms
to Foreign Powers and to support an application
by Egypt for admission as a member of the League
of Nations.
