the service of the Egyotian Government before
the coming into force of this Treaty may be ter
minated at the instance of either the officials
themselves or the Sgyntian Government at any
time after the expiration of one year from the
coming into force of this Treaty and within threo
years of that date. The comnensation to be ac
corded to officials retiring under this provision,
in addition to that provided by the existing laws,
shall be determined in accordance with the scheduHe
hereto annexed. In cases whenOio advantage is
taken of this arrangement existing terms of service
will remain unaffected.
12. From the coming into force of this Treat^
the Egyptian, Government undertake/ not to appoint

any foreign‘officials to the public services of
the State save with the previous concurrence of
H.K.High Commissioner.
13. On account of the special relations between
Great Britain and Egypt created by this Treaty o
Alliance Egypt undertakes to accord,^.! .High
Commissioner an exceptional position and to grant
him precedence over all representatives of Foreigr
countries.
14. This Treaty shall be submitted to the ap
proval of a oonoti-frufrntrukssembly but it shall not
come into force u^til a~ter the agreements with
foreign powers for the closing of their Consular
Courts and the decrees for the re-organisation of
the Mixed Tribunals have come into operation.
15. The Constituent Assembly referred to in
clause 14 shall be charged with the duty of
framing a new Organic Statute in accordance with
