I am directed by Mr. Secretary An.ery to
refer to the correspondence ending with yoitlr-ter of
the 28th May No. 8. 3244/180/91 regarding the proposed
revision of the 1916 Treaty with Ibn Sand, and to
transmit to you herewith, to be laid before secretary
Sir Austen Ohamoerlain, a copy of a record of a
Conference held at the Colonial Office on the 20th
May last to consider the questions arising out of i>ir
Gilbert Clayton's recant mission to the Hedjaz, and
j also a copy of the Agenda for that Conference.
2. I am to say that Mr. Amery, for his part,
concurs in the recomnendatians made by the c^ior uce,
and I am to suggest that, if these recommendations
|l are also approved by Sir Austen Chamberlain and by
i the Secretary of State for India and the Air Council,
steps should now be taken to issue tne
