frontier does not appear to be
cornpletely substantiated by the
language used in Mr.Bourdilion’s
despatch of the 19th January 1923,
but may very possibly rest on corres
pondence, not in the possession of
this Office, regstding the concession
given to the Eastern and General
Syndicate. If so, there would appear
to be good ground for hoping that Ibn
Saud, who has recently found it
desirable to agree the Western and
Northern limits of his territories
might be willing to fix also his
Eastern frontier on the line indicated,
or one giving similar results so far
as concerns the coastal tracts. In
any case a proposal at the outset to
adopt the "blue line" as the Eastern
frontier of Hejd would appear not
unlikely to prove a useful factor
in negotiation#
If Ibn Saud should otherwise
prove to be amenable on this point
it might be found necessary^ despite
the determination of his frontier^ to
