His Majesty the King of the Hejaz and Sultan
of Nejd undertakes to co-operate with His Britannic
Majesty in the suppression of the slave trade and to
recognise the right of nanurnission of His Britannic
Majesty's Consular Officers at Jeddah and elsewhere.

The present treaty shall be ratified and the
ratifications shall be exonanged as soon as possible.
It shall cone into force imediately upon ratification
and shall be binding during seven years from the date
of its coning into force, when the treaty concluded
between His ^ritannic Viajesty and is iajesty the King
of the Hejaz and Sultan of Hejd, then Sultan of Nejd,
on the 26th of December, 1915, shall cease to have eff®t
In case neither of the high contracting parties shall
have given notice to the other six months before the
expiration of the said period of seven years of his
intention to terminate the treaty it shall retaain in
force until the expiration of six months from the day
on which either of the High contracting parties shall
have given such notice*
The present treaty has been drawn up in
quadruplicate in nglish and Arabic. Both texts -snail
have the sane validity but in case of divergence tne
English text shall prevail. One copy of each text shall
remain deposited in the archives of the Government of
His Majesty the King of the Hejaz and Sultan of h>eju
and one copy of each text in tuose of the government
of His Britannic Majesty, the remaining copies bein^
used for tne purpose of the exchange of ratifications
provided for in Article 9 of the present Treaty,
