Majesty the King of the Hejas and Sultan of iejd
ani its Dependencies, in view of the friendly relations
which exist between them and with a view to consolida
ting their respective interests, being desirous of
concluding a treaty of friendship and amity, !!is
Britannic Majesty has named and appointed
Mr.S.R.Jordan, Actir^ British Agent and Consul in
Jeddah as His Plenipotentiary to conclude a treaty or
this purpose with His Majesty the King of tne Hejaz
and Sultan of iiejd.
In virtue of which His Majesty the King of
the Hejaz and Sultan of Nejd and the said Mr, Jo roan
have agreed upon and concluded the following articles.

There shall be peace and friendship between
His Britannic Majesty and His Majesty the King of the
liejaz and Sultan of Nejd, dach of the high contracting
parties agrees and promises to use all ic '.mans which
his laws provide to prevent his territory being used
as a base for activities directed against the present
or future interests of the other.

His Majesty the King of the Hejaz and Sultaa
of Nejd hereby recognises the special position of is
Britannic Majesty in Iraq, Trans-Jordan and Palestine,
