My dear Yo ung ,
I concur in the draft minutes of the
conference held on August 11th regarding the
Hejaz, enclosed in your letter of to-day, and
I have no observations to offer on them. But
on reflection, ire are doubtful whether Article
7 ought, after all', to apply to Article 4 and 5.
If it is only to apply to Article 6 , it might be
possible to make this clear in Article 6 and
thereby eliminate Article 7 altogether. To raise
this matter officially now would, however, delay
the circulation of the minutes by your Department,
and I only write this to warn you that when asked
for our official observations, we shall probably
raise this point*
Jordan should be described in the preamble
as "His Trusty and Well-beloved Stanley Rupe.t Jo.da.
Esq., "Acting British Agent and Consul at Jeddah".
