August, a revised draft ol tne proposed treaty with Ibn
3aud had been prepared and circulated, but since then
various comments and critic! sjt.s hod bee'' received, which
rendered it necessary to re-consider oi£ teniis ol tiie
revised draft. The opportunity afforded by the presence
in tms country of » r. Jordan, to whom would loll tne duty
of negotiating the treaty, had therefore been taken to
