I am directed by Mr. Secretary Anery to reier
to the correspondence ending with the letter from this
Department Do. 0.18253/26 of the 1st of Octooer
regarding the proposed revision of tne treaty witu Ibn
Sa’ud and to transmit to you, to be laid beiore the varl
of Birkenhead, a copy of a record of the Conference held
at the Colonial Office on the 6th ol October to consider
the revised draft of the proposed new treaty with Ibn
Sa’ud, together witn a copy of tne draft treaty amended
in accordance with the recommendations of the Conference.
2. Mr. Mery would be glad to know whether the
Earl of Birkenhead concurs in the recommendations made
by the Conference, and in the terms of the draft treaty
as now revised. He would be glad to receive an early
expression of the Earl of Birkenhead s vieuu in oxdei
that draft instructions for the conduct ol the
negoti ations
