Crnan, "Independent Oman" and L/nanlruft (Oman aultanate),
located between tne coast of tne Persian dulf and
rtuba* al Kbali (the Great Salt assert).
ooutn of tne Hasa oacis is tne extensive Jafuran
assert wnicn extends eastwards at least to tne 52nd
meridian of east longitude.
Its soutn-westem and south-eastern corners are
respectively tne Jabrin oasis and a point about 10 miles
south of Ida village in dnafran. Jafurah is almost as
inhospitable a land as the rtuba 1 al Knali desert, wnlch
borders it on tne south. Its only innabitantsbesides
Ajman Bedouin on its nortnern fringe are Al Morra, who
own the Jabrin oasis and wno nave dealings occasionally
wltn tne people of the Hasa oasis.
Like tne Bani Hajir of Central Hasa (Blyadn) a
few of tnese Al Morra also repair occasionally to i^atar
to receive Hospitality and gifts from the Al Tnani family.
Ihe boundary on tne coast between -iatar ana Abu
Dhabi was ruled in 1907 by tne Government of India to
be the "Khor" (bay)of ndald. At Odaid village, wnicn is
the Kortn-western-m'St point of the small coastal tract
known as AQal, is Odaid village founded and periodically
abandoned, by Ban! Yas tribesmen. Manasir from dhafrah
andAl Morra from Jafura occasionally camp in tnis tract.
East of Aqal is Mijan, a desert containing no
settled inhabitants, tnough wells and good graxing
exist. The Bedouin wno encamp in Aqal also irequent
this region. It is bordered on tne soutn oy Jafurah
at a distance of 70 miles from tne coast.
East of Milan is the saline and raarsny tract
