Then Shaikh Sultan bin Zaid murdered hi a
brother Hamdan, the Chief of Abu Dhabi* in 1922, he
found that hie family^ authority in Baraimi had
fallen to a low ebb* The Haim had summoned to their
aid the Bani $itab # the Awamir and the Daru of Ohahirah
and were more than holding their own in conflicts in
fihafrah with the Bani Yes* who were led by Shaikh Sultan’s
brothers and cousins* In June 1925 it waa reported
that the Awarair and the Daru had appealed to the Amir of
Rasa to protect them from the Shaikh of Abu jhabi •
Presumably they really wished their encroachments on
Dhafrah to be confirmed to them* It was reported in the
same month that the Amir had sent an official named Said
to collect Zikat in the Baraimi oasis* This ofiicial
employed about sixty men who went about in fifteen parties
They were generally but not invariably successful. The
tax demanded was 1 rial ^»r camel* 1 per head of
cattle and 5 r>er cent of the flocks* Said arrested and
hanged a Haaawi refugee in Baraimi. It was also he
who notified to the Shaikhs of Abu Dhabi and Dibai that
the Amir of Rasa had taken the Awamir and Daru tribes
(Muscat subj ect s* fundamentally ) under the Sultan of
Hajd’s protection*
9. In July 1925 it was reported that the Shaikhs
of the Haim of Baraimi, the Bani Kaab and the Bani «iitab
had been negotiating with the young bhaiich of Dhargah tor
mutual assistance in the event ofc^ression by the
Denuty of the Amir of Hasa*
10* In August 1925 after a conference between
relatives of the Bhaikh of Dlbai and Shaikh Isa bin
Saleh* the Ibadhi supporter of the Imam of Oman* it was
agreed that these two Shaikhs should support^eaoh other
in resisting Wahhabi encroachments. Immediately after
wards the Chief of Abu Dhabi paid visits to ibai*
