Your telegram iiio. 2 January 2nd 1925 end subsequent
correspondence.
Ray I be informed if question of saluting national
flag by His Majesty’s ships entering Jeddah has been
settled.
In view of His llajesty’s GoYemment* s friendly
relations with Ibn Soud and greatly increased territory
and power of letter, discontinuance of prrctice accorded
to feeble Sherifian regime might be liable to misinterpret
tetion and should I coniider be continued.
His Majesty’s ship “Cornflower" arrives at Jeddah
January 19th and there is a possibility of visit from
His Majesty’s ship "hmerald" early in February.
I venture to suggest thrt as an act oi friendliness
to which he will not be insensible, Ibn Saud might be
received on and shown ever latter ship if there is no
objection.
Addressed to foreign Office, repeated to Cairo.
