intention to interfere in matters affecting Moslem
religious interests in general and the regime of the
Holy Places in particular. The formula in the last
two and a half lines of paragraph 5 of the Foreign
Office letter might do; but it seems advisable to be
careful to avoid the use of the word "temporal M which
inevitably introduces consideration of "spiritual".
