A8 the Egyptian Government bad expressed the wish,
during the visit of Sheikh Hafez wahba to Cairo, to conform to
the attitude of His Majesty's Govertnent in the matter of the
recognition of the Sultan of Rejd as King of the Hedjaz, it
was considered expedient, on perusal in Telegram Seotions of
foreign Office telegram Bo.25 to you, of the 25th ultimo, to
bring this new development to the notice of the Egyptian
Ministry of foreign Affairs.
2. The Under-Secretary regretted that, in the absence of
an Egyptian Consul, there was no Egyptian official in Jeddah
oy whoa questions of this moment could be raised *ith Ibn 3aud.
He requested t,j&t you mipht be asked to suggest to Ibn 3aud
that be sboula i^ormally notify the Egyptian Coneulate at Jeddah
(as he has not yet done) that he has assumed authority orer the
Hedjaz ant has been recognised by the greater Powers as kin^:
of that country# 'ine Consulate would send the communication
to Cairo and the Egyptian Government would then accord
recognition,
3. I am directed by His Excellency the High ^ommigeioner
to request that you will be so good, if you see no objection,
as to take action in this sense when a favourable opportunity
presents itself.

The papers also cover Ibn Saud's proposal to send a delegate to the International Sanitary Conference in 1926, and to become signatory of the International Sanitary Convention.
