Mr.Philhy converted to the Islamic Religion.
Allah hne gladdened our ftrriend Mr.St.John
Philby with Islam, so he has declared in a letter which he
has forwarded to Hie Majesty the King.
Mr.Philhy has heen trying for more than four
years to make such a declaration, having deeply studied
the Islamic religion. The following is the text of the
letter he has forwarded to His Majesty the King.
”To His Majesty Imam Ahdul Aziz ibn Abdurrahman
al Faisal A1 Sa f ud, the Heapectable”.
Your Majesty,
Peace, Mercy and the Blessing
of Allah be upon you.
I have already had the honour to submit
to Your Majesty’s consideration my desire to become a
Moslem and to abandon other religions.
Now I once more beg to state to Your Majesty
that Allah has rejoiced my heart to accept Islam and has
shown me the right way to follow this religion with firm
belief and perfect conscious satisfaction.
I therefore "bear witness that there is no
God but Allah and that Mohammed is His slave and messenger”,
and I believe in all that is mentioned in the ’'Book of
Allah”, in the tradition of His messenger and in what the
