In conHnuaTtdn of my telegrma Ho.36 of
today* s date, I hare the honour to forward for the
information of His Majesty’s Government a translation of
a letter, Ho.89, dated 17th Zilqad&h 1342 (2lst June
1924), from the Sultan of Nejd to my address, stating
that he has not yet received replies to his letters
Hos. 82 and 86, dated 27th Ramadhan (2nd May) and 3rd
Shawal (7th May) respectively; and complaining of
attacks on his tribes by Trans-Jordanian tribesmen.
The Sultan* s letters Hos. 82 and 86 were for
warded to His Majesty’s Government under cover o** my
despatches Hos.21/311-8 and 22/312-S respectively, dated
the 23rd May 1924..

The papers cover: initial reports of an attempted raid by Wahabi troops on Amman on 14 August 1924; the repulsion of the attack by British ground and air forces; Ibn Saud’s [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd] protest at the British action against Wahabi troops, and the British Government’s rebuttal of this protest; discussion concerning the precise location of boundary between Transjordan Used in three contexts: the geographical region to the east of the River Jordan (literally ‘across the River Jordan’); a British protectorate (1921-46); an independent political entity (1946-49) now known as Jordan , Hejaz, and Najd, with particular reference to the towns of Akaba [Aqaba] and Tebuk [Tabuk], and the Ma’an vilayet; a sketch map of the boundary, illustrating an India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947.
