g. At 15C0 hours one D.H.9a, Pilot, flying Officer
I.H. Morria, with wireless proceeded to landing ground M D W
to inform ^lying Officer E.S. Stafford, who was there with a
co.'ivoy of 4 tenders refuelling the dump, of the situation,
and with an order the he was not to proceed west till further
orders. Flying Officer y.or~is landed at Amman at 1745 hours.
20. At 0510 hours on 15th August two D.H.ya* s Pilots,
Squadron heavier "VAlbiuc and Flight Lieut. Wallage, left
Amman to reconnoitre, the Wadi A seasonal or intermittent watercourse, or the valley in which it flows. Sirhan and watering places at
Ar zak- Amrie-H a *im. No trace of Wahabis could be found.
During tbis reconnaissance Tight Lieut, //allage
was forced to land 5 miles north of Amrie Wells; Squadron
Leader B’Albiac landed beside him and discovered that a new
engine would be required. He then proceeded to Amman to give
inf or mat ion.
On receipt of information, 3 armoured cars were
ordered to proceed to the forced landing without delay.
Squadron Leader D'Albiac returned to the forced iancunr to
reconnoitre and stand by till the arrival of the oare.
Thecare arrived et 3100 hours.
2 1 4 At o ;30 1»Jrs on the 16th August Squadron Leader
D'Aibiao left the forced landing and returned to Amman,
dropping a message to Flying Officer Stafford en route order
ing him to return to Amman as the route was clear.
22. At 1900 hours on the 15th August. Colonel Cox. the
Chief British Representative, slated tnat he had received
a message from Rilcabi Pasha An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. at tta-an saying it was reported
that a raiding force had watered at Bair. S.*. ofKatrani.
A reconnaissance of two Bristol Fighters left Amman at 0445
hours on 16th August and reported on their return that they
had seen nothing.
