ase telegram from the Secretary of State for the
Colonies to the Resident Bushire.
Your telegram Ho. 47 19th October. You should inform
bin baud that His Majesty’s Government have received his
protest with great surprise. They consider that it is for
themselves and not for Sultan to protest against what took
place last August, when body of Wahabi tribesmen committed
armed incursion into area under British mandate. Such
an incursion His Majesty’s Government were bound to repel
with all the means at their disposal. Bin Saud may rest
assured that, should similar circumstances arise again, His
Majesty’s Government will act in precisely the same way.
You should refer him in this connection to message conveyed
i ^1 in ray telegram of 15th October laying down limits beyond which
his people must not advance. Ke must clearly understand that
His Majesty’s Government will not tolerate attacks upon
territory for which they are responsible.
$ith regard to his complaint of provocation, you may
remind Sultan of message conveyed in my telegram of 1st August
last. Instead of complying with request for proofs, etc.
