considered the straggle now proceedi ng in Hedjaz* and state
aent of the Prime Minister regarding British intervention^
the Committee is emphatically of opinion that in no case can
British or non^Moslem intervention be tolerated by
Mussulmans* Neither the interests of British subjects in
Hedjas nor the safety of pilgrims is of equal importance with
freedom of the Iledjas from non-Moslem intervention of any
sort* or under any pretext* Committee consider it their duty
to announce that the Moslems of India will do everything to
prevent non Moslem intervention* and desire that it should be
understood that any attempt at such intervention is bound to
be regarded as an act of hostility towards Islam* Committee
therefore warn British Government to desist from anything
resembling such intervention. Ends*

The correspondence covers: responses to the invasion by the Muslim League of Bombay [Mumbai], the Khalifat Committee and its leader, Maulana Shaukat Ali, and the President of the Supreme Religious Court in Egypt; the question of the fate of Islam’s holy cities; reports of attempts by the King of Hejaz, ‘Alī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ‘Alī al-Hāshimī, to recruit troops in the Aden Protectorate; the British Government’s disapproval of King Ali’s attempts to recruit troops in a British territory; the enlistment of Palestinians, Trans Jordanians and Egyptians in to the Hejaz army.
