Papers relating to the invasion of the Hejaz region on the Arabian Peninsula by Wahabi [Wahhabi] forces under the Sultan of Najd, Ibn Saud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd]:

• Part 2, covering the British Government’s response to Ibn Saud’s actions, including its policy of neutrality, and its objection to the King of Hejaz, ‘Alī ibn al-Ḥusayn ibn ‘Alī al-Hāshimī’s attempt to recruit troops in the Aden Protectorate
• Part 3, covering the Wahabi attack on Transjordan Used in three contexts: the geographical region to the east of the River Jordan (literally ‘across the River Jordan’); a British protectorate (1921-46); an independent political entity (1946-49) now known as Jordan [Jordan], and the British Government’s discussion of the location of the boundary between Transjordan Used in three contexts: the geographical region to the east of the River Jordan (literally ‘across the River Jordan’); a British protectorate (1921-46); an independent political entity (1946-49) now known as Jordan , Hejaz, and Najd

Each part includes a divider which gives the subject and part numbers, the year the subject file was opened, the subject heading, and a list of correspondence references contained in that part by year. This is placed at the back of the correspondence.

Arrangement

The papers are arranged in approximate chronological order from the rear to the front of the volume.

The subject 3665 (Arabia) consists of five volumes, IOR/L/PS/10/1124-1127. The volumes are divided into eight parts, with part 1 comprising one volume, parts 2, 3 and 4 comprising the second volume, part 5 comprising the third volume, and parts 7, 8 and 9 comprising the fourth volume. There is no part 6.
