4. Brahimzai residing at Mashkel or Detigwar. Originally emigrated
from Seistan and, having intermarried with the Rekis, were adopted
into the tribe and form a sub-division of it.
5. Bulakizai residing in Sarhad, Ladis, and Mirjavva, mixed with the
Kurds.
6. Ganguzai, residing north of Jalk, are sub-divided into the Lashkar
Khanzais and Alayarzais.
7. Ghwaramzais.
8. Jadizais, residing- in Sarhad, and at or near Mirjawa.
9. Hussenzai sub-divided into Mir Khanzai, Isazai,- and Jangizai. The

RESADIK,—Lat 29 0 17' ; Long, 62° 55'; Elev. 3,718'.
The tract from Manzil to Amir Chah at the 13th mile passes about
a quarter of a mile to the south of this. The last point of a string of low
black hills that project north-west into the Registan from the main
range near Manzil. A view is obtained of Malik Dokand faintly looming
above the horizon as well as of the tip of Khaisonlok a little to the
south. There are several small for the collection of rain water
found about here, and there is grass and tagaz in abundance. {Roome.)
RIEL RIVER—
Rising in the Rihi and Tahlab ranges flows into the Tahlab river, |
It is dry except when in flood.
RIHI SPRING.—Lat. 28° 45’ ; Long. 6i° 51'; Elev.
The source of the Rihi river situate between the Kok-i-Rihi and the
Tahlab ranges.
ROBAH WAL RIVER— .
One of the branches into which the Lora is divided shortly before
entering the Nushki district.
ROBAT—
A halting-place on the Chagai route to the Helmand. It is the
eleventh stage (162 miles) from Nushki and 13 miles from Sukaluk and
10 from Mamu, There is here a broad shallow nala, 100 to 150 yards
wide, said to drain from Malik Naru.
The entire bed of the nala is. filled with coarse green grass and odd
tamarisk bushes. Abundant water in a number of large pools, each ^

Content

A report, marked as secret, on the area of Nushki, Chagai, and Western Sinjarani. The report was compiled in the Intelligence Branch, Quarter Master General's Department. The report was commenced in 1897 by Captain R E Roome, 6th Bombay Cavalry (Jacob's Horse), and revised and completed by Major W C Walton, 104th Wellesley's Rifles, Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General in 1903. It was printed at the Government Central Printing Office, Simla, in 1904.

The report includes a preface by Colonel John E Nixon, Assistant Quarter Master General, Intelligence Branch (folio 5) and a glossary of vernacular terms used (folio 6). The main body of the report contains chapters on geography, communications, fortified posts and forts, climate, sanitation, resources, ethnography, history, administration, and military strength.

The second part of the report includes a gazetteer of topographical and ethnographic information (folios 36-127) and appendices covering wells, canals, and meteorology, and including a report on the signalling stations of the Dalbandin-Robat line, with sketches (folios 131-147).

The volume includes the following maps:
