JAORI CHAH—
A well and halting-place on the road from Amir Chah to Dalbandin
in North-West Baluchistan. It lies between the Girom and Ghedan
Fasti ravines. {MacGregor.)
JAURAKiN WELL.—Lat. 29 0 18' 55" ; Long 65° 57'; Kiev.
In the Nushki district about 8 miles south-south-west of Baghak on
the Nushki-Kharan road. There are two wells 11 feet deep, with 4 feet
of brackish water A karez is being excavated here. {IVedd-IVare)
JAWANMUDI—Lat. 28° 5';- Long. 62° 47'; Kiev.
A date grove near Maksotag well {q. v.).
JELAL KHAN NAWAR—
A depression of cup-shape, where a pool of rain water had collected
in February 1925 miles from Galla Chah and 23^ miles south-east of
Khwaja Alien the Helmand,the supply was not sufficient for 988 men,
but useful for a'a^-runners. {McMahon.)
JERRI- REG—Lat. 29° 3'; Long. 63° 20'; Elev.
A range of sand-hills passed between Manzil and Butak. The track
crosses over a spit of sand running south into the plain at nth mile.

A low hill in the strip of desert between Galla Chah and Garmashki,

Situated on the east side of the Tahlab river, about 28 miles below
Mirjawa. There is another well of the same name midway between
Mirjawa and Duzdap.

In the Durokan nala on the road from Ladgasht to Mirjawa, about 45
miles north-west of Gorani well.

A strip of cultivation in the
Dak
System of postal communication used in Moghul India and later by the East India Company.

Nushki on the road to Band, a well-marked road diverges to the left,

JOGI—
A strip of alluvial plain between Charasiaf in Nushki and Band, be
ginning about 7 miles from the former place. It is about 600 yards
across, and stretches a long way in a south-westerly direction. {Mait
land.)
JOLUSHAH orJOLUSHAN—
A halting-place in a ravine on the north side of the Siahan Koh {q. v.)
at the foot of a steep and difficult pass over a low dip in the range.
The pass is described as barely practicable for camels.

A report, marked as secret, on the area of Nushki, Chagai, and Western Sinjarani. The report was compiled in the Intelligence Branch, Quarter Master General's Department. The report was commenced in 1897 by Captain R E Roome, 6th Bombay Cavalry (Jacob's Horse), and revised and completed by Major W C Walton, 104th Wellesley's Rifles, Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General in 1903. It was printed at the Government Central Printing Office, Simla, in 1904.
The report includes a preface by Colonel John E Nixon, Assistant Quarter Master General, Intelligence Branch (folio 5) and a glossary of vernacular terms used (folio 6). The main body of the report contains chapters on geography, communications, fortified posts and forts, climate, sanitation, resources, ethnography, history, administration, and military strength.
The second part of the report includes a gazetteer of topographical and ethnographic information (folios 36-127) and appendices covering wells, canals, and meteorology, and including a report on the signalling stations of the Dalbandin-Robat line, with sketches (folios 131-147).
