$Lth reference to my telegram No,75 to Balirain
dated the 13th April, regarding the use of H.M. ships
in the soppress!on of the Gulf anas traffic, I have
the honour to transmit to you herewith a copy of a
memorandum from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
requesting that H*M, ships should lend their assistance
to the Persian authorities in case of need. A copy of
my reply is also enclosed.
I should he glad if you would help the Persian
authorities as far as you reasonably can in their
efforts to prevent this traffic. I note from your
despatch No,404 of the £5th March to the Political

strengthened and that this is expected to deter the
