The letter is conveying intelligence that William Bruce has received indicating that a Persian force has left Sheraz [Shiraz] for Bushire, for the purpose of deposing the Shaikh ‘Abd al-Rasūl Khān from the position of Governor of Bushire. He describes measures he has taken to secure company treasure and requests the deployment of an additional cruizer at Bushire, to afford protection and further communication options for the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. .
