The letter is an acknowledgement of a communication received dated 7 November 1808, which concerned Andrew Jukes's allowance. It is also enclosing disbursements and vouchers (not present) from the Bushire Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. for October 1808. It also notes that correspondence addressed to the Captain from India is being forwarded via the Fury .
