mind views expressed are those of better educated in
fluential class which proclaims public opinion although

General reception cold but not altogether unfavour
able.
The extreme nationalist, who it is reasonable to
believe form a decided majority, find in speech a reason
for greater distrust and disbelief in sincerity of our
intentions, though Moderates are undoubtedly relieved at
passage in which Protectorate is clearly defined.
They are pleased at flattering terms of reference to
Egyptian culture but are disappointed that no recognition
was made of material help afforded by Egyptian nation
in the war to Allied cause.
