and have been given a guard of eight men to
protect them from the vengeance of Malik
Narai’s relatives.
On the night of the 28th June, four
telegraph posts were pulled down and the
wire broken on the road between Sadda and
Ibrahimzai, and at the same sime some
400 young trees recently planted along the
roadside were destroyed. This wanton
damage is believed to have been done by some
bad characters of Gharbina, assisted by some
i\ara Chamkannis.
On the night of the 30th June, the
quarters of the Head Clerk of the Political
Agent were broken into by thieves, and his
servant was murdered.
On the 1st July, one Muhammad Aslam,
a Khan of the Loghar district and a Major in
the Amir’s Shahi Rissala, arrived at Parachinar
from Kabul, whence he had fled fearing arrest
for having shot Jemadar Muhammad Sarwar
for insubordination. He has been ordered to
remove himself from Kurram.
On the night of the 1st July, a gang of
thieves attempted robbery from the Kuchi
encampment of Hassan Khan, Humza K^hel
Turi. The Turis fired on the thieves, who fled,
but next day the dead body of one of the gang
was discovered, and identified as that of
Gulado, son of Niaz, Jaji, of Jaji Maidan.
On 10th July, a raiding gang of Para
Chamkannis attacked some villagers of
Jallandhar, who were gathering fruit in the
Wuchdarra glen; assistance arrived from
the Jallandhar village, and the raiders fled.
Previous to this, the same gang had attempted
to drive off the flocks of the village of Gram,
which had been grazing in the hills, . but
timely warning of the approach of the raiders
having been received, the Gram people were
on the alert, and easily repulsed them.
On the 30th July, a picket of the Kurram
Militia from the Teri Mangal Militia post, con
sisting of a Uavildar, Naik, and five
sepoys

others.
