of the Amir’s army, proceeded to
the Jadran country (see Journal for December)
early in January, in order to conciliate the
people. It is reported that Malik Babrak
Khan has refused to obey the Governor’s
summons to appear before him, and has taken
to the hills. So far the Governor has been un
successful in his mission, and he is still in the
Jadran country, while his son carries on his
duties in Khost.
The Fakir of Thabai (see Journal for
December) having failed in his efforts to raise
a lashkar from the Para Chamkanni tribe to
attack the Shiahs has retired to Ningrahar.
On the 28th December, a gang of Para
Chamkannis raided the Turi village of Samir,
killing one herdsman, and wounding another.
The raid does not appear to have been due to
the concerted action of the tribe.
About the same time Muhammad Hussain,
a Kurram outlaw r of N urkai, with a number of
Jajis, raided the village of Boshera Dandar in
Kurram limits, and carried off 40 donkeys.
The Governor of Khost has been asked to
restore the raided property and to take steps
to remove Muhammad Hussain from near the
Kurram border.
On the night of the 10th January, shots
were fired at the railway survey camp near
the village of Ibrahimzai. No damage was
done.
The Khoedad Khel section of the Zai-
mushts have complied with the order given to
them to hand over a Martini-Henri rifle
obtained from some Ali Khels who had assisted
the gang of Afridis who raided Darshi Khel.
The same tribe have also handed over uncondi
