16. Three hundred Sarbazes (Persian
infantry) of the Paridoon Regiment arrived in
Bushire on 14th to relieve the Bushire garrison
at present maintained from the Char Mahal
Regiment. The Commandant of the new
garrison remains in Shiraz, with 100 Sarbazes,
to pass the summer there.
17. Lingah .—Pearling operations on the
pearl banks of the Persian coast and islands
have so far proved very successful, and sales
have been effected to the extent of some three
lakhs

18. The Customs officials who had gone
to Dishkoon to recover Customs dues on goods
which had been shipped from Mehtabi, were
ordered by Abdulla Khan, Chief of Dishkoon,

19. Bunder Abbas .—On the 14th Sep

be prepared to receive his cavalry escort
by the middle of October. Arrangements are
therefore being made to despatch one non
commissioned officer and three sowars, together
with their horses, to Bunder Abbas to form the

20. Eenjam .—With reference to the
situation on Henjam {vide Memorandum for
August, paragraph 20), Sir Arthur Hardinge
informed Major Cox on the 28th June, in reply
to the latter’s representations regarding the
evident purpose of the Persian Government to
surround the telegraph office on Henjam with
Persian buildings, that, generally speaking,
he believed the course most advantageous to
the interests of our station on Henjam, would
be to endeavour to settle all questions, as far
possible on the spot, in a spirit of friendliness
and co-operation with the Persian authorities.
21. In the meantime, the Superintendent
of the Telegraph Station on Henjam tele
graphed on the 20th August that the Customs
Mirza on Henjam (paragraph 23, Memo
randum for June) was taking advantage of
the fact that he and his men were practically in
sanctuary in our Telegraph precincts (which the
Arabs have some fear of violating) to behave
in a truculent manner towards the natives.
