1 . The Oil Company’s Concessions consist of the following s-

2 . Oil fields Area .
^hese stretch over several spuare miles and are situated
about 15 miles ^rom >TA? T VKA T: r. ^here a^e approximately 60 wells
capable of production. The majority run about 3000’ in depth but
there are now four (Fourth Pay Tells) which are being sunk to about
4000’.
Crude oil pipe lines run from the wells to the Five Tank
Battery Stations.
The wells cannot be easily damaged except by dynamite.
The pipe lines are easily repairable if damaged. The most
vulnerable wells are the 4000’ wells (Fourth Pay Tells) where
pressure is _reatest. Two of tnese at a ueptxi of 4,600’ are in
production.
Guards on the most important wells ana car patrols are
required for general protection.
3. The Five Tank Battery Stations .
The object of these Batteries is to get rid of the free
yas before the oil is delivered at the Refinery. Each Tank Battery
consists of a few small tanks and a pumping plant. The five
stations are scattered over the oil fields area each station deal
ing with groups of wells. Pipes run from the wells to the Batteries
and on to'"the Refinery.
Damage can easily be done to the pumping stations and
tanks, so guards are required, but as these stations are miles out
in the open desert only individual attempts at sabotage are likely.

"he Refinery.
This covers an a^ea of about 1000 yards square. It
includes sto^aye tanks, Power Station, Distillation Units, Cracking
Stills, Acid Plants, ^e-run Stills, Pitch Pond and numerous other
smaller buildings and workshops.
It is situated on a bluff and has a barbed wire fence
all round. Searchlight platforms have been erected at suitable
points and power lines laid to them so that if the Searfclights
were available they could be connected up at once.
The Oil Company propose to put a barbed wire entanglement
round the face of the bluff and this, combined with Searchlights
and patrol cars, should eliminate penetration from outside the
Refinery by any individuals bent on sabotage.
It is also possible to electrify the barbed wire fence
and this in emergency woula have a great deterrent effect.
