Enclosure in Tehran despatch 2o.
1929 to the 5'oreign Office.
551 of 3tli November
3ushire,
25th October 1929.
hear Sir Robert*
i fear I may have given you a wrong impres
sion about our holding at Subzabad.
The original grant to Captain Felix Jones
appears to have been no bigger than could be covered by a
jield Officer*s tent, but we have acquired by purchase
various bits of land subsequent to the purchase of Captain
Felix Jones* property. ae hold regular title-deeds
certifi ed 'by the Qadhi s for all these bits.
I have seen the correspondence leading up ta
tile purchase of Captain Jones* property, and the final
acceptance by the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. , but I have not seen
the grant made by the Persian Government to Captain Jones,
ho doubt it was in order as they sent soldiers to pull down
an extra building he had erected in the *50s.
Yours sincerely,
Sir Robert Clive, K.C.M.G.,
His F-a j es ty * s Finis ter,
Tehran.
