is hoped to recruit more men at Bushire. •
Major Blake, who is flying round the world, arrived at Bushire at about 9-30'
A. M. on the 17th July and left about 3-0 p. m. for Bandar Abbas. Owing to an
^ hour’s delay in getting off from Bushire, which could well have been avoided,
they had to land at Bustana some 18 miles short of Bandar Abbas, where they
spent the night proceeding to Bandar Abbas the following morning. Consider
able anxiety was felt at the time regarding their safety as there was no wireless
set on the machine and they were completely out of touch until they arrived at
Bandar Abbas.
Intense heat has been experienced during the last week of the month with the
wet bulb registering a very high average.

The Financial Agent is showing considerable energy in collecting revenue for
remission to the military authorities in Shiraz. The pay of all other departments
is being withheld for the present.
It is reported from Tehran that Ftizad-es-Sultaneh, younger brother of
the Shah, is a candidate for the Governor-Generalship of Kerman and that

the thumb of the democrats which is most regrettable seeing that the latter are
showing a marked inclination to establish relations with the Russian Consul.
Mirza Reza Khan Fahimi, the Rais Okaf, is active in bringing the Russian
Consul into contact with the democrat element. The Russian Consul is reported
to have contributed 300 Ts. to the fund of the democrat anjumans.
An article appeared in the local newspaper “ Farhang ” on the 24th June
praising the Soviet Government for their generous treatment of Persia. The editor
is said to have received a present of 100 Ts. from the Russian Consul who has also
promised him a monthly contribution of Ts. 30.
The Governor-General has presented a horse to Mirza Ibrahim Khan, the
Persian Assistant of the Russian Consul, who has taken a separate house for
himself near the Russian Consulate.
The local authorities have taken no steps to compensate the Hindu traders
for the robbery of their goods, value Krans 238.454-38, on the Kerman-^ ezd
road, in September last. They apparently consider that as the robbery was
committed by Fars robbers, compensation should be paid by the Fars authorities,
and ignore the fact that Ts. #50,000 was allotted for the Kerman roadguards,
which was ample to ensure the security of the main routes if it had been properly
expended.
It is reported that on the 13th of June, 40 Arab (Farsi) robbers carried off
400 sheep, 40 cows and 50 donkeys from the villages of Fatehabad and Nasiriyeh,
A detachment of 50 men has been despatched to Sirjan.
A caravan, consisting of 135 camels and a number of donkeys, en route from
Rafsinjan to Bandar Abbas, was attacked and robbed near Gulu Anjir by a band
of 40 Arab Farsi robbers.

Mirza Ahmed Khan has been installed without any further trouble as Deputy
Governor of Minab (inde last month’s Summary).
Mir Barkat is reported to have visited him at Minab. /air Abdullah Khan
has proceeded to Lingah to await Yamin-ul-Mamalik s arrival there.
