During ay visit to Muscat last month Dr Zhoras of

the American Mission told me that there is still a fairly /
considerable traffic in'slaves going on across the Ciulf of Cman.
The slaves consist mostly of women and children .inducted or
purchased from the lehran Coast .whence tnoy are ociken t-. ^ -
Batinah Coast and from there overland to Burail anl finally
Riyadh where there is a ready arkot for uhem .

from the Trucial Coast A name used by Britain from the nineteenth century to 1971 to refer to the present-day United Arab Emirates. to Buraimi which is a kind of entrepot for
the slave trade. All the slaves eventually find a market inNejd.
