matter of the Beni Katb. Recently, however, the Shaikh of Abu Dhabi entered
into another agreement with Abdullah-bin-Ali, the headman of the Beni Katb,
which to the Shaikhs of Debai and Um-el-Kowein appeared to be in contravention
of the agreement of 1910. The Shaikh of Debai, therefore, deputed his Vizier,
Shaikh Buti-bin-Rashid, to Abu Dhabi to ascertain the nature of the agreement; the
latter finding it innocuous took the opportunity to renew the former agreement by
making a substantial compact, whereby each of the Shaikhs can now rely on the
other in time of need.
