1st to SIst October.
1002. The Shaikh and Shaikh Mobarek visited Seyyid Talib at Basrah on the
11th and 19th.
1003. Shaikh Mobarek left for Kuwait on the 24th.
1004. Mulla Abdul Saiyid, Parviz Khan, and Abdullah Khan, the latter’s
brother, left for Ahwaz on the 8th.
1005. The Shaikh sent 100 sowars with Mulla Abdul Saiyid to meet Amir
Mujahid at Ram Hormuz.
1006. Amir Mujahid arrived at Heh Diz on the 5th.
1007. Agha Rahim Khan, Bakhtiari, arrived from Ahwaz on the 14th October
to settle differences with the Shaikh with reference to the Aqili lands on behalf
of the Bakhtiaris.
1008. Haji Rais and Agha Rahim Khan left for Ahwaz on the 19th October.
1009. Mirza Abdullah Khan, Mustaufi of Shushter, left for Ahwaz on the 1st
October.
1010. Haji Khazin-i-Huzur, brother of Vaqar-ul-Mulk, Deputy Governor of
Dizful, arrived from Kerbala on the 7th. It was stated that a sister of his is to
be married to the Shaikh.
1011. Vaqar-ul-Mulk arrived from Ahwaz on the 14th October.
1012. Shaikh Motayilej of Beni Turuf, a father-in-law of the Shaikh, died in
Mohammerah on the 8th.
1013. Haji Saiyid Jaffer Shushteri of the Saadat of Kharran and son of Haji
Saiyid Abdul Samad, arrived from Kerbala on the 6th.
1014. Haji Mirza Ali Agha, late Editor of the Muzaffari, arrived from Ahwaz
on the 14th and left for Basrah on the 25th.
1015. Baqir Khan, late Kalantar of Shushter, who was imprisoned at Failiyeh
was released on the 21st and left for Ahwaz on the 23rd October.
1016. Mirza Husein Khan, Itila-es-Sultan, returned on the 30th October
after inspection of the Customs and Posts at Ahwaz, Shushter, etc.
1017. Monsieur Guiseppi Martirozi, (vide paragraph 935), an Italian, arrived
from Bushire on the 27th September in the Russian steamer “ Tigre He obtained
orders from local merchants for candles and cloth.
1018. Lieutenant R. S. Bullock, 27th Punjabis, arrived on the 10th and left
for Ahwaz on the 12th, en route for Ispahan.
1019. Captain A. Grey reached the Oil Fields on the 12th and Ahwaz on the
20th.
1020. Monsieur Zwinne, Director of Customs, Bushire, Madame Zwinne and
Monsieur and Madame Combier arrived on the 16th in H. I. M. S. “ Persepolis”
and returned to Bushire on the 25th.
1021. Sub-Assistant Surgeon Fazl Elahi, Ahwaz Vice-Consulate, returned
from leave on the 17th and relieved Sub-Assists nt Surgeon Abdul Hakim, who
left for India on the 27th.
1022. The Sub-Assistant Surgeon, Ahwaz, having reported that three cases of
cholera occurred at Ahwaz on the 4th October, five days’ quarantine was imposed
against arrivals from Ahwaz.
1023. Assistant Surgeon W. Turner arrived on the 10th from Bushire to
relieve Captain James, temporarily, who proceeded to Ahwaz on the 12th to report
on the outbreak of cholera and returned on the 19th.
1024. No further cases were reported and quarantine was removed on the
14th.
