HOB. Saiyid Mabdi, son-indaw and agent of Mirza Husain, left Maskat with Arms traffic*
his family for Basrah on 22nd by SS. “ Dwarka ” to join his father-in-law at Najaf,
Mesopotamia.
1101 . An elderly Arab, a native of Sur, Muhammad bin Salim bin Nagim, Foreign interests,
met the Acting Head Clerk on the 26th September. He said that for sixteen years
he has been official Kazi in the German East African port of Mikindani and was on
leave. He further said that he came here in company of Abdul Rahman, brother of
Abdul Aziz Ar-Rawahi of the French Consulate, and went to Sur immediately and
Abdur Rahman left for Wadi A seasonal or intermittent watercourse, or the valley in which it flows. Ma’awal. This Abdur Rahman is a notorious partisan
of the rebels and is said to have persuaded Abdul Aziz to lend the Imam a sum of
four thousand dollars. The object of Muhammad bin Salim’s visit to Maskat
was to get into communication with Abdur Rahman, who was returning to Zanzibar,
and to arrange for their joint departure for Africa.
1102. Muhammad bin Salim was inquisitive, asked what was the British
attitude towards the Maskat State and whether His Highness the Sultan, in his
relations with the British Government, occupies the same position as the Rao of
Cutch or enjoys greater freedom. He also wanted to know whether the British
Government would take action against the rebels or leave matters as they are at
present. The Acting Head Clerk replied that clerks knew nothing of these matters..
Muhammad bin Salim had intended to travel in India, but on account of ill health
decided to return to Africa.
