278. Mr. Ritchie, General Fields Manager, Anglo-Persian Oil Company, died
at Basrah on the 28th February. The Company in his death lose a man of great
ability and energy and a born organizer.
279. Mr. Simpson, Manager of the local branch of the Imperial Bank of Per
sia, has proceeded to Mohammareh being relieved temporarily by Mr. Macgregor,
who will be relieved later by Mr. Nelson from Sistan.
280. Mr. E. Helmich, the new Agent of Messrs. Wonckhaus, arrived at Ahwaz Foreign interests,
on the 19th February.
281. Abundant rain fell during the month. The prospects for the summer Miscellaneous,

283. The Immirri sub-tribe of the Bakhtiaris has been robbing the Oil Com
pany’s Kasids and caravans in the vicinity of Naft-i-Safid. Captain Grey has
addressed Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. -i-Jang on the subject.
284. Amir-i-Mujahid has written to Shaikh Khazal that he will arrive in
Ahwaz shortly en route to India. He has asked the Shaikh to allow Shaikh Chasib
to accompany him to India.

285. No preparations have yet been made Iby the Bakhtiari Chiefs with a
view to subduing the Kuhgilu. The season for hostilities has almost past, and it
